Another charming aspect of Onam is the #SnakeBoatRace called as Vallamkali and is a major tourist attraction. It is a grand boat race, held on the river Pampa. All the boats are colorfully decorated; boats are near about 100 feet’s long with the pax capacity of 150 people. About 30 elaborately crafted “ Chundan Vallams “ or “ Snake Boats “, participate in the mega event. Each boat has a team with great spirit. The balancing and team work are worth watching and singing chants of each one add amazing strength and courage to each team of them.
